PATRICK'S TAKE

"The lives and livelihoods of others depend on us."

Patrick joined Highmark in 2011. As Vice President of Business Development, He leads our market entry with school founders, boards, authorizers, management companies, and industry associations. He assesses market topography; analyzes school budgets; assembles relevant data; monitors legislation; and extends that first hand of friendship to prospective clients. A frequent presenter and panelist at industry events, he enjoys demystifying facility development for school leadership. Before entering the charter school space, he was an English teacher and corporate trainer. His teaching resume includes US and Japanese universities, community colleges, and several Japanese industry giants such as Toshiba, Hitachi, NSK, and Taiho Pharmaceuticals.

Patrick is of Indigenous descent and a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. He holds a BA in English, a BS in Psychology, and an MA in English. He is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and is passionate about Second Amendment rights. His other non-work interests include Indigenous and Acadian history, animals, linguistics, amateur mycology, barbecue culture, and growing heirloom tomatoes, exotic pumpkins, ophio garlic, and just about anything that can be planted, picked, and pickled.
