Tina Smith joined Highmark School Development in March 2018 and currently serves as VP of Risk and Asset Management. In her role, she leads a team that evaluates and manages risks for partner schools during the underwriting process.
With a diverse background as an educator, school founder, board member, and former Chief Operations Officer of the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools, Tina brings a broad perspective to her work. She understands the unique challenges charter schools face and values collaborative leadership.
Tina is passionate about helping school leaders implement sustainable processes and systems that foster best practices, empowering them to support students in achieving their full potential. Under her leadership, Tina’s team provided oversight and guidance for an investor’s portfolio of over 40 schools. They specialized in areas such as board governance, strategic planning, policy development, academics, enrollment, and school expansion.
Tina earned her bachelor’s degree in Humanities with a minor in French from Brigham Young University. Outside work, she enjoys camping, hiking, reading, cooking, gardening, and is fiercely dedicated to her family.
